Why do people use the internet?

The Oxford Internet Institute is a site dedicated to researching internet usage. It has a very long PDF on how many people have the internet in their homes, how often they use it etc. Useful if that's what you want to know, but it could take a while to read through it all.

It's no surprise that more people have the internet in their homes now, more than even two years ago. It's much more accessable these days: easier to use, quicker and cheaper. The most popular use of the internet is to check emails, which makes sense. I guess a lot of people just have an email address but don't do much else. Of course there are many more uses, and everyone uses the net for different purposes, so you're always going to reach someone.
